English at Woodnook
The aim for our English curriculum is to ensure that pupils develop a love of reading, acquire a wide vocabulary, develop an understanding of grammar, write clearly and are able to discuss their learning, explaining clearly their understanding and ideas.
English is both a subject in its own right and the medium for teaching, providing access to the whole curriculum. Fluency in the English language is an essential foundation for success in all subjects.
The nationally agreed requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and the National Curriculum form the structure of our curriculum. However, we do create individual/small group programmes of study for pupils where necessary.
